A brand isn’t just your logo or your colors. It’s the feeling people get when they interact with your business.
It’s how your website looks, how your messaging sounds, and how consistent everything feels, from your homepage to your emails.
Think of your brand as your business’s personality. The clearer and more consistent it is, the easier it is for people to connect with you.
Start With Clarity
Before you start building your brand, you need clarity. Ask yourself three key questions:
1. Who are you for?
Be specific. Not “everyone” but who is your ideal customer.
2. What problem do you solve?
People don’t buy products, they buy solutions.
3. What makes you different?
This is your edge. Your unique angle.
Now write these down. This becomes the foundation for everything, from your website copy to your brand’s look and communication style and voice.
Craft Your Visual Identity
Now comes the fun part, your visual identity.
This includes:
- Your logo
- Your color palette
- Your fonts
- And your images
Make Your Web Design
Now you’re ready to make a website. First, make website builder account on Website.com and log into the site builder.
Pick a Template
First start by picking a template. This is just the starting point – later you can apply your own visual customizations.
When someone lands on your website, your visuals should instantly communicate your vibe, whether that’s bold and modern, calm and minimal, or fun and playful.
Add a Logo
Now let’s start by adding the logo that I’ve created.
Click on the header, make sure the logo is toggled on. Click Change Media, and upload your logo to the file manager and select it.
Choose Colours Based on Emotions
It’s time to move onto the colour palette.
To change the colours, on the left panel, choose Design > Colours.
The palettes are custom chosen by designers, but you can create your own custom colour palette to apply across your website.
In general, play around with colour theory and emotions.
For example, reds evoke strength and excitement, orange is confidence and sociability, green portrays quality and freshness, black is sophistication and security, blue portrays trust and professionalism.
Minimalist neutrals typically portray upscale, clean and trustworthy branding.
Choose Fonts That Evoke The Right Feel
When it comes to fonts, function matters first, but looks do matter!
You want to make sure your fonts on your website are easy to read, and you can play around with the font type, sizing, and style like serif or sans serif.
In general, a sans serif font is clean and modern, while a serif font is a bit more classic and upscale.
You can choose a designer made font pairing, or create your own custom font pairing.
Add Consistent Images
The images you showcase on your website will greatly affect your brand.
In general, you’ll want to keep the image styling consistent across your website.
Express Clarity With Your Content
Your website is where your brand comes to life.
It’s often the first impression people have of your business, so it needs to be:
- Clear
- Visually consistent
- Easy to navigate
Make sure your homepage answers three things within seconds:
Who you are, what you offer, and why it matters.
Once you’ve added all the content into this template, you’re ready to publish. Just click publish in the top right corner to make your website go live.
Building a brand doesn’t have to be complicated. Start with clarity, stay consistent, and use the right tools to bring it all together.
If you’re ready to turn your idea into a brand, and a website, the Website.com site builder makes it easy to get started.
