How To Add Facebook Messenger To Your Website:
Video Transcript Below:
Hi there! This is an updated video to show you how to directly chat with your website visitors through Facebook Messenger.
While Facebook Chat has officially been discontinued, this hack will show you how to allow visitors to start a Facebook Messenger Chat with you through your website.
Facebook actually provides a unique link to allow your visitors to start a conversation through Facebook Messenger, so all you need to do is add this link to buttons or text on your website.
Before we begin the tutorial, make sure you already have a Facebook Page for your business, and make sure Messenger is enabled for your page.
By default, Messenger should already be enabled for your page.
To find your unique Messenger link, you’ll need your page name or Page ID.
If you open your business page, just look in the URL to find your page name after the slash, or you can also use your page ID which is found in About > Page Transparency, and then Page ID.
Your unique link would be m.me/yourpagename or page ID.
For example, for my Auntie’s Cupcakes page, it would be m.me/auntiescupcakespage
Once you have this link, let’s head over to the site builder. I have it open already.
There are few ways you might want to incorporate this link on your website.
The first way is to add it to the Messenger social media icon in your header and footer.
Just click on the header, and then on the left, scroll on the left side panel to the social media links, and click Edit.
Now choose to add the Messenger icon, and input the link here.
For the social media icon, you’ll noticed we already started the unique messenger URL for you, so you just need to input the second part after the slash.
Once that’s done, click Save and Publish Changes!
And you’ll see that the Messenger icon and link has been added to your header, as well as your footer for all of your webs pages, as those are synced.
Now another way you may want to add the link to Messenger is on a button on a section of your website page.
For example, I’ll go to the contact page, and under the web page, I’ll click to add a section.
I’ll add a text section, I like this layout with the button.
I’ll add that, and customize the section text.
I’ll toggle off the secondary button.
For the primary button, I’ll edit the button text.
Now to add the Messenger unique link, click under primary button, and choose web address under external.
Now enter the url starting with m.me/your page name.
We’ll click save.
So you can use this method when you can add links to text, images, or buttons on your website.
It’s a great way to let people start or resume a conversation directly with you through Facebook Messenger.
Once they click a link, if they’re logged into their Facebook Messenger account, they’ll open up Messenger to chat with you, or they’ll be prompted to log into their Facebook account so they can chat directly through Messenger.
That’s it for this video! We hope it was helpful, and thanks for watching.
