Hi everyone! In this video I’m going to show you how to password protect your product page so that you can exclusively sell your products to members or certain individuals.
This is great if you want to make your products exclusive based on membership, if you want to encourage membership sign ups for your site, or if you have a beta version of your product that is not yet ready to go public.
To do this, all you have to do is go to Manage Pages, find the Shop page, and click on the Edit pencil.
Now choose Page Permissions.
So you can choose whether you want to set the page for password holders, which means only visitors who have the password will be able to purchase a product.
So let’s set that up, and set up a password, and this is the password that you will need to share if you want to allow them to see the product page and purchase any of your products. Let’s save and publish.
And on the published side, this is what visitors will see. Now let’s go back to the editor.
This time I’ll make the page accessible only by members.
So this means that only members that you have added, or that you have allowed to sign up, will be able to purchase from your online store after they’ve logged in.
So again, under Manage Pages, we’ll click on the pencil icon beside the shop page, and then choose Page Permissions.
We’ll choose All Members, but note that you can also choose Selected Member Groups, or Selected Members for which members will be able to purchase your products.
So I’ll choose that and click Save.
Just a side note, to add members to your website, we’ll click on this icon to go back to start, and then choose Site Members.
I’ll open the Member Manager.
And you can see all the members you’ve added, to add a new member, click Add New Member.
Enter their information and remember to give them the password.
You can also set Member groups by choosing Member Groups here. Just add new group, and then add members to the group.
One more thing, is that If you want to allow sign ups through your website, you can click on Member Sign up, and click to enable member signup.
I’ll also toggle off Manual Approval, which means that anyone can just enter their email, create a password, and then verify their email to become a member, without needing me to approve their membership. So let’s publish the website.
I’ll go to the published side.
And now when I click on the shop page, I’ll see the member login, so the only way to see the shop and buy the products is to log in as a member.
You’ll see that there is also a way to sign up as a member here.
Keep in mind, that if you add privacy protection to your shop home, even if you add a product collection element elsewhere on your site, visitors will be restricted from entering the shop and making a purchase.
So I’ll show you, I have added a collection section on this page, and even though a visitor can see it, if they click on the item or try to add to cart, they will be prompted to sign in.
So that’s it for this video! We hope it was helpful, and thanks for watching!
